graf some Ghost
hey. i caught this a few other flicks of Ghost's work this summer off Haight and Stanyan in sf. good stuff. but was wondering, could this be the same Ghost with graf from Berkeley and SF at club Townsend back in 1992? 'prolly so.
just checking in- flix of tees real soon. sick as all get out handmade graf classics beyond anything you've seen thus far. limited editions. wait until hallow's eve. we're busting them out.
meanwhile we're wondering what to cover next in our upcoming September mixed magazine edition- letting Lyrics Born out of a parking space on College Avenue while he was in town for the Outlands festival, or catching King Britt at the Power to the Peaceful celebration in SF for free at the Polo Grounds September 6th...dag! or...maybe we'll be flashing some greasy goodstuff on the local roller derby scene- featuring tidbits on the East Bay's own Oakland Outlaws...or the custom moto cave Godspeed off San Pablo in Emeryville...whew.
Oh but, about Ghost...he's featured in the latest Juxtapoz issue featuring New York graf. But hey, we know better in the Bay.
"baby, get down up outta the dumps
let fun funk fanny flip flop
in ya' pumps punk crunk skip jumps!"

Back in Oaktown
hey,
my father used to always say, 'get to steppin'.
i dunno' maybe 'cause he was always steppin'; around, out, about...he was a restless soul.
we used to wake up every morning between 3&4. i mean he did. but if i caught him sitting up by candle light, he there at the table with a cup of cowboy style coffee (boiled grounds), we'd be up in a flash ready to take an early morning drive.
usually we'd go to the airport and watch the airplanes take off.
forgive me, but there something about the town right now that has me reminiscing.
i'm back in the bay, and was steppin' my damned self out at the tracks in E.O.
i didn't have much time in between a training and an after hours appointment.
taking care of business.
at the tracks.
there was something bright and beautiful there, the flix are here.
i thought about these on the way home- as it sat in a series of zeros and ones in the form of something digital.
knowing i had just picked up something more soulful than the case it was in..when
a scraper went by bumping something deliciously discreet- below pop radar and ridiculously groovy. the windows were up and it wasn't loud enough to make out...
soulful brothers in a soulful case.
just a late Summer commute hour; Fruitvale in the East O.
i'll let you check 'em for yourself...

Peoria Mellow
hey,
just returned from a week in Peoria, Illinois- where the lightning storms are spectacular and embroidered butterfly New Era caps can be left at a relatives house from being left on an antenna to get good reception!
dang.
(throw it in the box to be shipped to Cali' with all those pristine Ebony magazines from 1968,please)
so we flew on out in search of a few good things in the world of hip-hop and came up kinda busted.
no R.A.M.A., no connects came through,... not enough time to play sleuth, i guess.
but now bust this, new Berkeley hip-hop group Make Nice now have a myspace page where you can catch a few of their latest tunes from their debut EP, Pirates!
http://www.myspace.com/hiphopmakenice
just so you know they are working out big time go make their first hometown gig a blast. stay tuned for the October date and venue.
any who,
on the graf tip- the Oakland tracks have been graced with some HOT isht that we're flashing today. have camera, will travel. AND bwlp will be have a 'greatest' printline of tees that pay homage to what's new and ill and presently up. which can be a challenge. but we're immortalizing our faves for tees' fresh for you available at our BWLPetsy shop in October: small/med/lg- white only at the moment. limited runs. hand -made. hand wash, delicates....and DOPE.
why would WE front?
and here's a fresh lyric from a bootleg of a Make Nice untitled track floating around the office...
"me..
internal beat never quit
confetti recipe adrenaline
anticipate
momentarily
within a present fit
inherently connected
physical link
exhibit
eyes closed
legs outstretched
in a sit
the meditative
explained
personal
intimate"
hmmm. that parmella kid's got flow. we think the track is called 'meditation'- rumor has it.
anyways, you all keep it moving. oh
AND we're really feeling jack these days too. who?
