When Writing
....sometimes I need a beat or something to just get some lyrics out, and this weekend was no exception... Listen to the Primate track by alias PortAL369- as emcee for Emetic Landscape.
kinda hope my little one'll take it to the next level!

Peace is NOT Hate
The controversial letter presented by Solaar regarding Keith Elam's passing has ignited a maelstrom of controversy regarding the vitriol for DJ Premiere.
You don't have to look further than the legacies of Tupac and Biggie to know that resting in 'peace' is almost impossible when the subjects in question are of incalculable influence.
Yes G.U.R.U. was an incredibly talented, focused, magnificent emcee; a powerful and consistent writer and bearer of tight rhymes. He was- without question an essential ingredient in Gang Starr with Primo, whom together, their musical legacy will forever speak for itself. Thank the Universe for that.
As a Teacher, I get to drop a gem on my students that makes the social study of Jazz music and it's expansion relevant and accessible: Jazz Thing, by Gangg Starr. I didn't hesitate to craft a lesson plan around this audio spectacle that will shine forever. The lyrics are cast in finery with the adjunct of DJ Premiere's instrumentalist mastercraftwork as a background.

The World's Not Over Yet...Oakland to SF at Low Tide
This Summer some of my musician cohorts will be doing a few geurilla-style out door shows. Probably at sites that look a lot like this.
The world's not over yet.
Maybe that should be the title with everybody wondering if all the folks in Iceland will eventually all the calcium in their bodies be slowly replaced by flouride due to the high toxicity of the volcanic ash from the eruption of Eyjafjallajokull (ay-yah-FYAH'-plah-yer-kuh-duhl) [ yes a REAL concern... ]
The truth is, as many have stated, Nature is not intent on making life difficult.
We're just here, in many cases trying to live in accordance with it.
(however, not those past and presently working for Goldman Sachs!)
There's still an open ended war on. A new age nuclear arms race is in full swing. (heck, what's a reduction when you've ALREADY got enough to obliterate everyone thousands of times over)
And still, groups are rehearsing their routines, be it skipping, hip hop dance, uninterrupted rhymes, mixing, remixing, or...
just flat out reduction.
Such introspection prompts a new focus for us at BWLP. When you already ARE hip hop; doing it daily... the culture aspect is always about and alive. Why promote our own brand of that? Who cares. What IS interesting, at least to me as one constantly intrigued by the world around us, is perspective and story.
Rhymes, perspective and story.
Graffiti? Perspective and story.
Snapshots? Perspective and story.
Inner evolution, consumption, humanity, each-one-teach-oneness', instrumentals, skating skills, musicality, motivations....
you got it.
If we offended anyone previously for our naivitee here, we apologize.
It's a new time. We'll be biggin up eveyone and everything we enjoy and giving credit and props to those who make it happen and create it.
And currently, we're jazzed about these folks who keep it moving...

bwlp April Dropping Later Today
Say you just want to get the f*% out of the way and break off to paradise. Absolutely due to what is NOT popping off as it should be around your way. Power brokers all up in your franchise are blowin’ it left and wrong. Relatives just aren’t getting it. Homies and homettes are showing true i.q’s of blank polyurethane figurines fresh from Japanese molds.
Take heart, friends on the lamb. Go to Kerala. We’d go with you from the jump. But this month is not what you’ll hear when you get there...it’s what you should hear on the plane to get you out of what you’re in, right now. When you get to Kerala. Just go into ‘I’m-a-get-back-to-that-in-a-minute’ mode.
You shouldn’t be needing us for awhile.
Happy April 2010 from bwlp
