Like Chicken and Bread
...except that we're nibbling Turkey & Sweet Potato Pie this XMas night.
As we're wrapping up the HTM Jan EP, (soooooooo DOPE!!)
here are several things that have made this holiday season xtra special:
a bwlp WIMBY session (what's in my bag, yo)
dang. it's only been 5 days out of 14 on holiday, and all this good stuff has crossed our itinerary so far.
allow us to explain, (not in any particular order...)
flowerland cafe is where our NYT gets read alongside the finest 4barrel coffee, Albany CA, yo.
best cafe, walking distance from the crib in the shadow of Albany Hill.
blue is the warmest color, worth 3 hours of your life in an arthouse movie theater somewhere near you.
Hermes parfum counter at Saks. yep, what to do when Body Shop cancels your product line and it's time for a new cop.
calibre's album, spill. it suffices to soundtrack anywhere in the jeep, this holiday season.
tipsy pig, marina sf, ca. honey glazed baked chicken and pear salad is bomb eats.
Spike Jones talks about Her in the latest issue of Fantastic Man. a freaking fantastic issue. really.
orange is the new black. binge watched the entire season in days. marathon gigs, yo.
f3 in Sausolito is the truth. friendly gals to be met there who will have mimosas with you on xmas morning downtown, if you bring like minded sincerity and sport your borussia dortmund scarf xmas eve.
bwlp had a dream about a tsunami before the big one in Thailand several years back, so Sonali D's book was a must read if there's any time on hands.
Doc Scott gets honorable mention for incomperable drum and bass mixes that never cease to please: run, swim, walk, drive... and cook.
oh, and frank niao's sweet potato pies, fresh out the oven. iroc. (they rock?) like the z.
happy holidays northern hemisphere types!

Scott La Rock, Moreso.
Scott La Rock Sterling. (March 2, 1962 - August 27, 1987)
let the records speak for themselves.
noted that if it's good, people will seek it out.
way ahead of his time.
was punk rock in his d.i.y. ethos, with the savvy that a business degree only aided to fuel his 'let's-get-it'ness.
a bwlp inspiration and musical hero.
the podcast is finally up to the right where you can hear his voice somewhere in the mix, for yourself.
AND catch SLR's life story, as summarized by Noah Callahan Bever, here
giving you all some...
happy wednesday, err'body!

Awh?! It's PSA Time Again!!
Wednesday, November 27, 2013
Intro Loop.
EP opener comes in a little like this...
actual take is shorter, glossier, balanced and gets scratched into the beginning of the next track.
that's all for now.
gotta go back underground until 2014.
until then, we'll be playing everybody else's stuff...there's more than just recording, mastering and rehearsing to do!
Pre Oscar Grant Verdict.

Oh well. Get 'em while you can. These cuts you won't catch unless you catch one of my sets this winter.

Re-Cast Podcast
Remember May 2009? You probably don't (well at least verbatim..) but we've got this little trick up our sleeve to share with you all; once a week from now until our next full length EP drops in March of 2014. We'll re-cast one podcast a week from our archives until lat March of next year. Listen in... we've got May from back-in-the-day already up for your listening pleasure. There's like 56 episodes we have to choose from, so you'll just have to catch em as they drop.

Still B-Boy.
kinda standup.
kinda live beatmaking exhibition.
kinda poetry review.
kinda all-the-way-live come March 2014.
and this is kind of a preview.
stay tuned.
i know it's been waaaaaaay tooooo long since a post, offerings, takes and whatnot.
however.
it's time to represent for all my folks could know
the art of BRINGIN' IT is alive and well.
setting course to bring all the elements of hip hop
together, event by event: graf, truntablism, hip hop dance,
double dutch jumprope arts and rhyme stylists.
Mos Def said it best when he exclaimed that if you want to know
where hip-hop is going, you gotta ask yourself
where are YOU going?
Herein, therein, lay hip-hop.
say word.
it'll be time to get down.

Alix Set to Drop
Sunday, January 20, 2013
Pride.
the greatest advice my father ever gave me was:
"whatever you do, is what a black man does."
fatherhood, service and greatness; informing the paradigm since March, 1969.

Rock with Rockwell.
Rockwell hosts this month's Shogun Audio podcast.
what's remarkable about it is how you will hear, without a doubt, the influence of how Bay Area underground rap, slash, bass culture has influenced things world-wide. from drum and bass throughout the many styles of ,what we at BWLP refer to as, beat culture.
if you like beats, bass, edits and beautifully crafted audio experiences that drip of get-cho-asson-the-floor-ness....you better have a listen.
