It's coming...

It’s November 27, 2008 and there are an indefinite amount of questions facing our future. Is it true that Barack Obama has instilled excitement and entitlement in many of us who feel and believe in the change he has espoused all along his pursuit of the United States presidency? Has the consciousness of black America been elevated towards the highest level of governance in this land? And if so, how will the soulful sounds of this country respond in kind? And if a hunt for foreigners with American passports goes down in Mumbai, India on a day like, say, yesterday, how will the soul of a black man respond? Am I speaking of Obama or the next ‘Trane, Bird, Hancock, or Duke? Does foreign policy mired in a historical continuum crusade of Christianity, Zionism, and Muslim clashes rate against the domestic travesty of a hurricane Katrina? Does it? How?

We’re posing a few higher level social questions out there to the hip hop community because our new era has brought the responsibility of change to your doorstep. Electing Obama was a wonderful thing. Now, we’re going to have to have his back in the form of a conscious citizensry ready to move the world forward in positive directions. December heralds the most important Birds Who Like Pomegranate mixed media music magazine to date.

It’s hip hop and news outside your zone- from our neck of the woods in the mixed-use Potter Creek district of Berkeley, California. Until then, I’m b.phlecksi parmella of mAkE nIcE wishing you and yours a FRESH holiday season.
