Outdoor Geurilla Performance in the Bay

okay, several years ago we launched an outdoor performance series featuring musicians, emcees, spoken word types in public spaces.
so with all the proliferation of public art popping up all over, we decided to dedicate some time to hosting the Bay Area's finest folks you may or not have heard of.
outdoors.
nothing original here, except the artists.

all it took was a few flicks of that piece on Ashby and Telegraph.
it just makes sense.
the bay area is just too flush.

coming at you weekly starting in September through December 2009.

...bless the mic with the gods.

I would love to have you involved in the Expo this year!
10TH ANNUAL EXPO FOR INDEPENDENT ARTS
The Bay Area's only grassroots festival for independent arts, music, and culture
The Expo is a unique grassroots connection fair. It's the only event of its kind - each year the Expo brings together more galleries, radio stations, recording studios, performance
troupes, schools and service groups to meet the community, share resources, and cultivate the arts from the grassroots up.
This is an open invitation to arts groups (including film, visual,
performance, dance, multi-media, and music), youth organizations,
collectives, galleries, nonprofits, community groups, publishers, local labels to table at the Expo, meet each other, and build strong
community links. As always, tables are just $25 for small nonprofits and community groups. Performance, and exhibit proposals are also welcome.
We have space for about 200 exhibitors at this year's Expo.

This year we bring our bustling community arts festival to the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park.
Exhibitors will be grouped by arts discipline/focus in attractive
"Groves", and guests will receive event guides that will list exhibitors' names and locations. We are celebrating our theme "Art Works when Artists Work - Creativity - Culture - Community" with an incredible line-up of performers, a live mural project and sculpture garden, food concession and outdoor lounge area - our biggest bash yet!
We have changed our name but not our mission: the Expo has come to serve an extremely wide variety of community-based art and expression. At Independent Arts & Media we empower, educate, and incubate our robust community of artists and media makers; our partners span the spectrum from the literary to the visual, from performance to multimedia, from independent creators to cultural collectives. THE EXPO represents this greater diversity, and all the
cultural opportunity that makes this such a unique event.
