BWLP December 2009 Podcast

December’s issue of Birds Who Like Pomegranate comes in two parts; a 2 disc cd set if you were to download it or find yourself as the lucky recipient of where they might be via gps locator. Yeah, we’re going there, because sometimes you need to get out and get your groove on in the name of seeing lovely places you might not have gone otherwise.
Or, maybe if you’re in East or West Oakland, you might find an autographed set at a bus stop. Play ‘em when you get back to the crib though... there’s no disclaimer on explicit lyrics- b’now!

There’s nothing but good music at our year’s end. Did we get it all? No. Is it all previous unreleased tracks? Pretty much. Some pieces are newer than others- but all the artists are some of our favorites: Finale, Scarlem D and Mr. Blue, Skyzoo, Kissey Asplund, Gwen Bunn, Presto, and 22 others.

Good dj’s tell stories in their mixes and compilations. Sometimes at a club, it’s an instance of instant- the crowd response dictating what gets pumped through the speakers, for when and how long...the ride is a product of place and time. But when it’s prepared for you in advance, like our podcasts, we get an opportunity to tell you a story. Most of the time you might not notice the tempo changes and subject matter. But believe us, it’s been quality crafted for your benefit.

For instance in part one, you might notice a perspective aimed from a season but winds and twists you through a 6 car deluge of mind. Real talk for real times. I’ll cut it out. But we just wanted you to know that for us, music is more than a show and a paper chase. For us, music is expression and the higher pursuits of life’s exactness.

We’ll be replacing Mike Dream’s birthday podcast and the Back to School edition to make room for these in our limited storage space. No worries, we’ll reprise them in the future as time permits.

Thanks for checking in.

get, well...

ill abilities crew turned -isht out.
as well did New Style Motherlode International
as did One Step Ahead
and DS Players
along with Loose Change
with Mind Over Matter
Future shock Bay Area
and the CRAZY MJ tribute by Kenichi Ebina
Plague
some truly BACKINTHEDAYREALNESS from Last For One from South Korea...
and although each of these crews
repped their mother f&%n ass off..
my personal favorite was Deep Down Dopeizm from Norway
because they took me back to Richmond, California in 1977 when the only people I knew getting down that hard were neighborhood crews and Bay Area funksters like the Criminons and Poppatrons, the GLOBE Boys, Close Encounters of the Funkiest Kind in the 80's...
hip hop dance is in good hands world-wide.

wow.

So you now go to our myspace page and listen to the Sickness demo.

get well.

July BWLP good lookin'...like...

talkin' isht about our favorites...
Too much good stuff to kick off the Summer issue.
BWLP mixed music music magazine is on volume 2, issue 1.
we're blessin' the session with a musical focus on hip hop out of Canada, raaaht' now.
Underground is supa' dupa' in what too many hoolas (sleepers) consider the least likely of planetary areas holding down some outstanding hip hop. And, we're not necessarily talking new jacks, but they got some of those too.

Obit-wise we had to come true on the coverage of the recent passing of the first Asian member of the Black Panther Party, Richard Masato Aoki. Like Defremery park ain't right down the street, West Oakland, yo.

And Bea Arthur, known as 'Maude' first appearing on All In The Family, is about as hip hop as you can get- oh yeah, she and George Jefferson BOTH got borne on AITF, therefore the background images and audio for some serious 70s' going' ons. If it wasn't nothin but growin up. Lady-girl had soul. She we got Bea here too. Like, we all in the same gang.

So here are a few images of some of what's coming down the pike.
Doin' it all.

You ain't seen nor heard nothing, yet. This summer is going o the ff.
