BWLP December 2009 Podcast

December’s issue of Birds Who Like Pomegranate comes in two parts; a 2 disc cd set if you were to download it or find yourself as the lucky recipient of where they might be via gps locator. Yeah, we’re going there, because sometimes you need to get out and get your groove on in the name of seeing lovely places you might not have gone otherwise.
Or, maybe if you’re in East or West Oakland, you might find an autographed set at a bus stop. Play ‘em when you get back to the crib though... there’s no disclaimer on explicit lyrics- b’now!

There’s nothing but good music at our year’s end. Did we get it all? No. Is it all previous unreleased tracks? Pretty much. Some pieces are newer than others- but all the artists are some of our favorites: Finale, Scarlem D and Mr. Blue, Skyzoo, Kissey Asplund, Gwen Bunn, Presto, and 22 others.

Good dj’s tell stories in their mixes and compilations. Sometimes at a club, it’s an instance of instant- the crowd response dictating what gets pumped through the speakers, for when and how long...the ride is a product of place and time. But when it’s prepared for you in advance, like our podcasts, we get an opportunity to tell you a story. Most of the time you might not notice the tempo changes and subject matter. But believe us, it’s been quality crafted for your benefit.

For instance in part one, you might notice a perspective aimed from a season but winds and twists you through a 6 car deluge of mind. Real talk for real times. I’ll cut it out. But we just wanted you to know that for us, music is more than a show and a paper chase. For us, music is expression and the higher pursuits of life’s exactness.

We’ll be replacing Mike Dream’s birthday podcast and the Back to School edition to make room for these in our limited storage space. No worries, we’ll reprise them in the future as time permits.

Thanks for checking in.

Adjacent Queens, Kings; Word Life! No Act.

working on the one-man show, catch HGBOHFM video at an earlier post here; one piece among several...
meanwhile scouting locations for the Buffalo Bombing outdoor geurilla-style video performances:
emcees, spoken word artists, musicians- let's film you outdoors for free doing your thing!
one piece per artist.
unspecified locale, but pretty public.
go for it.
contact us if you're interested.
we're filming through December, in Oakland and San Francisco...alleyways, sidestreets, sidewalks, streetcorners, baysides, you bet.
at no cost to you...we just want to big up up and coming talent in the Bay.

More...And More

First off, peace to Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys for a safe and full recovery from his recent cancer discovery.
This just highlights the necessity for regular check ups & stuff.
(we know, try kickin' that to all the uninsured in a failing economy)

Sooooooo. We'll give you some more music.
No Emjay; we're not ready just yet.

Just a little something to chill to. BPP grabbed some records and saddled in behind the one and two's.

Isleys, Mary J, Kraftwerk, Brick, Brass Construction, Biz, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Blue Six, MF Doom, Heatwave, Michael Franks...awwwww sheeeeeeeeeit.

check out the podcast; gift mix July 22nd edition.

Go and do what you do to some chilled, layed back grooviness.

Cheers.
