Our Favorite Things As of Late

Having a 6 year old keeps my ears and eyes in the game.
Teaching 4th grade keeps my daily in the game.
Running 5 days a week keeps my heart in the game.
Seeing life throughout West Oakland keeps my soul in the game.
Fish tacos in the marina keep my euphoria in the game.
Street art sensibilities challenge my paradigm of the game.
Love is not a game but a practice...

("...that's right, we talkin about 'practice' ")

Dang. Go Mario Chiodo...(really, my kid's gonna freak when he sees that I was actually next to the original Star Wars frozen Han Solo form that Boba Fett ship he wants!) Tacolicious, Phineas and Ferb, Rooky Ricardo's record shop, Endless Canvas....and About the World!

Now, it's time to throw on that Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry record Dick gave me a deal on over at Rooky Ricardo's record shop
[my waaaaay, totally, new favorite...add it to your vinyl to-do-list!]

yours truly,

b freaking phlecksi gosh durnit parmella.
(time to get my spring break ON!!!!)

See Graphic Attack! Before It's Over and Out!!

I couldn't cop photo's until the Bay to Breakers this morning.
Had to wade through all the drunken debauchery.
But Seriously.

See the show.
It's curated by some really heavy hitter art gals: Brooklyn gallery driver Melissa Mc Craig Welles and NYC's super ridiculously uber-skilled Andrea Von Bujdoss.
(that's her piece to the right of Cope's..) mad murderous.

1AM is a killer gallery.
And not to mention their staff is MAD NICE!
I attached a flick from someone piecing outside from 2009, on the raccoon piece....

Cope2 Interview in Juxtapoz, May 2010

Okie doke, like I told you all back on Cinco De Mayo, Cope2 is dope.
And, it looks like over the past few days he's been up to was' good in SF.
(the timing is a bit haunting...) Imagine my surprise to see this tag splash as I was on my way with Son & family to the De Young for an event Friday night 5/14.....the interview with dude just popped up from Juxtapoz on Thursday!
And I had to see all the Plasma stuff and Mike Giant collab stuff in the Tenderloin/Market area...
I just wanted to jump out the car right there and snap photo after photo of all the illness!!!!
But sometime it's gotta be about the fam.'
No hope for Saturday photo shooting either with Peter Pan on tap....
hmmmmm.
It's ok. I'll get graf shots before the weekend is over...and play more guitar.
Some live performance is coming up in the next few weeks- an acoustic version of an Arboreal remix.
Hip hop is alive and well.

So bust the Cope & Fairey collab flick: the Bronx from the Juxtapoz May 2010 online interview Pt.2

It could be set to be like a MAD summer yo.

Ears to the Streets

So our latest video features some art work from the notorious 'Stick Alley' in San Francisco's Mission district. The SF Chronicle ran a piece on muralist, Dan Rauch's project to put up honorable graf pieces to thwart taggers from defacing often vandalized walls about the town. He teamed up with our local fave Mark Bode (pronounced boh-dee)and urban icon Mike Giant to force field the Episcopal Church of St. John.
Peep the flicks. We also feature some of this alley from last week's photo shoot for our 'arsenal' video now posted up at our podcast site.

There's a link to the article to the right under: Rauch, Bode, and Giant

p.s.s. big ups to crayone for posting this to spread the knowledge. DO it too and check out his site in the Got To Be There Section for the upcoming Zulu BBQ in the Park in SF this August!

Walking Through North Beach...

It's the first day of Summer.
The Bay Area got a G O R G E O U S one.
It sorta started with the lovely weather type of thing a couple of days ago actually... a fine time to pass these burners by on a leisurely stroll through North Beach in SF....hit up MoMA, E' Tutto Qua (for some downright all-the-way-live Italian food) with some homies from Chicago. SF represented well this day.

So Happy Father's Day all y'all.
For myself, I took my son out to a secret locale along the Cali coast...we maybe saw 4 people at this beach that is a MISSION to get to: tide pools, litter-free sand, surprises (startled a doe) and a windy little ride through Nicasio and Mount Tamalpias, saw a group of fisherfolk snag a 3 foot shark out of Tomales Bay....
Ahhhhh...heaven.
Yup. Happy Fathers Day.
Now...about that vocal that needs hittin' up...
I'm audi.

P.S. and a Happy (belated) Juneteenth folks!
